You can't miss it, north shore on the point east of the marked campsite (which sucks). The cabin is still intact.

That's it.
Where does that come from? Are you doing some map-making?

It is actually on the point where the campsite is.

Hi Dano,
I don't think so -- we were there last July and the cabin is on the point where Jeffrey has it. There is no longer a (marked) campsite there, and we were also unable to find a second site, just the one marked on the FOA map, ie., the second point of land.

Very possible, I was there years ago. The only campsite at the time was on that tiny island with no place for a tent, that's why we camped near the cabin.

Dano, sounds like an island I once visited on Wahwahtaysee Lake...more like room to exile a member of your party that's been naughty, instead of a place to put up a tent.

Yeah, we camped at the cabin too. Another party arrived after dark and paddled past us to take the marked campsite. The way I remember the official one is it was on a narrow spit of land with a marshy area behind and towards the main shoreline. Not sure if it is (was?) an island, but it was small and didn't look good from the water and we chose instead to set up near the cabin, which didn't have much open tent space but was interesting nonetheless. The building itself is in decent shape, but it would not be tempting to sleep in unless conditions are really bad, and even then I doubt the roof is leak-proof. There were a lot of rusted cans, pots & pans, old bedsprings and stovepipes etc. piled up along one outside wall. There's a table and a woodstove inside (pipe disconnected though), a kitchen chair or two, and we noted a few large garbage bags stuffed full. There was a maintenance crew ahead of us towards Clover, so I'm hoping the trash left on the floatplane with them.

I was at Guthrie Lake this weekend and camped at the cabin site. The cabin is exactly where I said it was...not on the point that is indicated on your CD or whatever you have it on. I always bring in a "real" topo map and make sure of where I am and where interest points are...on the map!
Proper map reading skills are needed when tavelling in the bush and in the city. I never rely on electronic gadgets to travel.
My memory served me right, again!

JeffreyM asked for a confirmation of the correction to the position of the cabin if necessary.
None was posted.

JeffreyM, the Guthrie Lake Cabin is on the point where the campsite is marked, west of the creek outflow to Turcotte Lake.
I stand corrected. So is the other campsite on the "island" in the small scan above?
And: Was the trash cleared out of the cabin? How was Macdonald Creek? Did you go further through the loop?

Did you guys catch any fish at Guthrie? or along the way in there? Heard years back that there are trout in Guthrie.

no!

No fish and no skull. We went around the lake with a depth finder and only spotted a few fish, I guess the road leading to Turcotte Lake make's this spot easy to access. As for the cabin's roof, it did not look very stable, so we did not bother going in as the door was shut tight.

yes

Yes Matt, the junk was still pilled against the cabin but it is out of sight now as we covered it with fallen pine branches. We did the loop from Tarn Lake and out from Guthrie.
MacDonald Creek had high waters from the 2km portage, but from Little Tarn Lake up to Glover Lake, the water was very low due to a few beaver dams being washed away and we had to portage through the bush because a few ponds were simply a trickle and muck.
The best part is that we did not see a soul for 6 days. No other footprints were seen.

Thanks for the report Dan. I loved that weekend (one night Guthrie, one night Little Tarn, slog over to St. Andrews), even if I can't recall the details perfectly .
