I'm Heading into McKaskill Lake this spring and I've heard that you can cart in from Shall Lake acess or Basin Lake. A little confused as to which one to head to. Shall looks to be the shortest. Does anyone have any knowledge of this cart access?

I only people I know that have used this cart trail have started from the Basin Lake access road. From here, they went to Barron instead of
McKaskill. They told me it was an easy trip.

IF you like a lot of hills to climb then this is the cart trail to use. also the local natives use this trail /road alot .

I've used a portage cart to go in from Shall Lake access to Shirley Lake. There is a bit of an incline near the last quarter of the trail heading to Shirley and its a bit rocky at times but nothing that a tough cart can't handle and I believe that you can cart from Shirley to Ryan as well from the trip reports I've read but can't vouch for what lies beyond that. Be interested in seeing which one you take and reading a trip report on it.
