Which way would you go?

I have my spring trout trip mostly planned. We're starting off May 10th and coming home on May 20th. From May 15-20 a group of 8 of us will be setting up a base camp on Cedar Lake and fishing a bunch of lakes from there. Prior to that my friend John I will starting off at Opeongo Lake on May 10 and working our way through the park to meet up with the rest of the group on Cedar on the 15th.

This brings me to my question, which way would you go from Opeongo to Cedar? There are all kinds of routes. Two that I have been thinking of are Proulx, Big Crow, Hogan, La Muir, Burntroot, Catfish to Cedar or Happy Island, Mercant, Big Trout, Burntroot, Catfish to Cedar. Also, I thought from Burntroot instead of Catfish to Cedar going Robinson,Nippising River to Cedar.

Which way would you go?

I remember the stretch from catfish to cedar being really nice.

We used to do a trip that was Happy Isle -> Merchant -> Big Trout -> Burntroot -> Pearly and then follow the river down to Catfish.

We'd then head down to Hogan and Big Crow on our way back to Opeongo but you could just as easily make that left at catfish.

i have done both, both are good, the one through Hogan though involves more long portages with alot of hills to climb, the link from Hogan to Catfish involves climbing one very big hill that stretches over three portages

Speckles or Lakers? If you want more specks I'd think the Nip would be better.
