Visiting Algonquin from April 1 through April 13, 2008?

The East Gate Office, West Gate Office, and Algonquin Park Information telephone line (705-633-5572) will NOT be operational from April 1 through April 13, 2008.

Day use permits may be purchased daily at the East and West Gates through the self-serve fee stations, and at the Algonquin Visitor Centre on weekends.

If you are planning to camp at Mew Lake Campground, you may purchase your camping permit at the self-serve fee station at the campground."

2 WEEKS!!! ???

When I first read it, I thought it said "April 1 - April 3" and assumed that it was for a telephone system overhaul or some such thing.

Good grief, what are they doing that's going to take 2 weeks?

I would like to think there's a good reason for the closure, but my first reaction is to wonder why this couldn't have been done in late fall?
