My wife Sheila has booked Friday, April 25th off and is now planning on
coming with me to Galeairy on opening weekend, depending on ice conditions (or somewhere on Highway 60 corridor).

She has asked me to post this as she can't believe she is the only AA female
that has the gumption to attend this prestigious event!! She said surely
there are other girls/women who, if men can do this, then we can too!!! And then started singing some song called "I am Woman"!!!!!

So how about it AA ladies??????????????????

Hey Bo

My wife is coming with me as well. Couldn't go without her.
Just wouldn't be right, she's my only paddlin partner now.

She's originally from Bancroft so the spring trips to Louise were a tradition, APP was her backyard all her life.

22 years together and the trips just get better each year. Now we would like tripping with others and see if it's what want to do or not. We love the solitude that one can only find at
"THE GREATEST PLACE ON EARTH ALGONQUIN PROVINCIAL PARK..."

I had to do a double take on the message title myself.

It reminded me of an ad I seen years ago.

Hey Racoon, I'm just glad you were sitting there instead of me. It easily could have been reversed. We were on the same page that night. Hopefully we can make it to Galeary. Don't worry about the longjohns.

Bo,
Looking at the number of ppl coming we will have to relocate the camp from the island to shore thats for sure. Should be a great start to a season trip.

Still assuming ice is our?

April 1 2008, 11:28 PM

Hey Tomek, Doesn't matter if it's island or
shore camp if the ice is still on the lake.

In that case Rock Lake or Mews campground will
have adequate sites available.

In the event the ice is out , then there are
great sites on the right shore.

Actually there are some rather decent sites that you will
pass if coming in from Whitney once your go through the narrows
( just past Sea Gull Rock). BK knows first hand
where Sea Gull Rock is located. Heck, he can travel many
KMs through the bush and still find that rock easily

Are new "members" welcomed?

April 2 2008, 2:40 PM

Bo, I was wondering if the trip would be open to new people to Algonquin Adventures. My last trip to Algonquin was in late October last fall, and I'm itching to get back in; my only problem is finding people as excited to get back in as I am, and it seems I've found the place.

It's so exciting to read about everyones enthusiasm about the spring, and getting back in the park, and I would love to be a part of it, only problem is "I'm new to the site" and don't know how it works in terms of who can or how to "sign up"? I've been checking out the site for a while, and particularly enjoy the trip logs section, as I have been using it to pick out my own routes for the summer; its a hard to narrow the choices down, as so many sound like so much fun! I must tip my hat to Barry for all his work in keeping the site up and running.

I chat online with Mark (Mark in the Park) some times, and he suggested just asking the question and seeing what people think about a new "member" joining in.

Any thought?

If you needed to get a bit more of a fell about who I am, I have a blog at http://algonquincanoeing.blogspot.com/

I guess then I'm asking you, and the others who are planning on attending what their thought are on a "new guy" coming long?

Any thoughts?

Jeff,

I can't speak for Bo, but I would be absolutely stunned if he were respond to that with anything less than a hearty "welcome" to any participants of the AA forum regardless of how long you've been around. I've never met him, but feel like I know him quite well from trip logs and postings and one thing he loves to share is his love for the park. I'm sure his response will follow soon so start planning your gear/food lists for opening day!

Hi PaPaddler ...

I know what you mean about feeling like "you know Bo." I've been addicted to the many trip logs on AA and I feel like "I know" many of the people here.

Thanks for the kind welcome.

Jeff, looks like Pa Paddler knows me really well!

Absolutely you are invited! In fact, everyone on AA is invited no matter what colour, creed, race, sex, fisherperson or not!!

I look forward to meeting you!

Once April 25th gets closer and we have more information on ice conditions,
plans will be firmed up.

Right now, we plan on camping on the north shore of Galeairy where there are 3 campsites real close to each other at the western end of the lake.

Only allowed to have 3 tents per site, depending on the number of people coming, even this might have to be changed!

Now seeing you are a newcomer, you must bring a 26er for every other member of AA who has seniority over you! JUST KIDDING!!!! LOL

Thanks!

April 3 2008, 8:46 AM

Bo ...

While I'm not sure my canoe has room to that many 26ers, and seeing as bottles are banned in the park anyways, I guess we'll have to settle for some "plastic bottled" liquid refreshments. Not to worry thought, the LCBO has a great selection that are also very portable!

Thanks again for the warm invitation, and I'll see you at the Park April 25th.
