On my way home from work tonight, I saw my first canoeist of the year. paddling up the York River in Bancroft across from the Eagle's Nest road. As soon as soon as the snow melts from my backyard, allowing me to get to my canoe, I may be there as well.
Heh Jason, the sight of that canoeist probably would have been enough for any one of us to go home and take a look at our canoe/kayak and been tempted to call in sick the next day at work.
I've seen a couple of boats on car/truck roofs and you get thinking as to where some of these people have been (maybe they never take them off their vehicles all winter, both my canoe and kayak are nicely hanging from the garage rafters but you can almost hear them jumping at the bit to go hit the water).
Happy Paddling!

Why is your kayak not being used in winter??

I have paddled at least twice every month this past winter on Lake Ontario. People were looking at me with weird looks on their faces as I was sliding my boat on ice to get to the water, some even asked how much insulation and what kind of heating system I have in my boat, but I had to get out knowing there is lovely cold water all around and the bonus here is there is no "Toronto smell" in winter hehehe :)All it takes is proper clothing and a bit of will.
