Hi all. Our May canoe trip will be passing by the Brent Store at Cedar Lake this year after already being in the bush for about eight days. We were wondering if anyone knows what kind of provisions they would have for sale like food, water, tobacco? Wish there was a beer store nearby

Thanks

The Brent store does sell a limited supply of standard camping goods and food stuffs. Chocolate bars. Some dehydrated goods. No tobacco products that I can recall. We the hell would you want to buy water??? Its free everywhere you look up there and its probably better than the bottled stuff.

purchasing bottled water is a crime. Or rather bottling it and selling it for the cost of a liter of oil is. Should be 10 cents a bottle, not $1.20...absurd!!! But I agree with all the water around you in The Park, it seems silly to have to buy it. Just my opinion though. If ya want to buy bottled water, buy bottled water...just know that you are being robbed!

Bottled Water

April 7 2008, 10:32 PM

I totaly understand what you guy are talking about. I never usualy bring any water with me when I go. Its just after lasts years trip around day eight (Two days of drinking filtered Maple lake and Erables lake)all I wanted was a bottle of water. I found these lakes to be relly brown and off tasting. All the other lakes and rivers I was on were the best drinking water I have ever tasted. Just was wondering what the store might have for everyone in my party. Thanks

I know what you mean with respects to Maple Lake water!
Can't say I blame ya. Although, you can always flavour up your water with a mint. Unless you're a purist and you don't like to 'flavour' you water. heh heh

I understand that if you call ahead you can arrange for a pick-up of specific items.

You have to call one of the other stores since Brent has no phone.. and then hope that the message is actually passed on to Brent. The best solution would be to write to them (ie send the letter to Oxtongue or Huntsville and have them forward it on one of their trucks.)
