Hello Mike, although the url http://www.halcom.ca/haliburton.php is for Haliburton (Head Lake), it gives me something to look at.

Canoe Lake tends to open 5-7 days after Head Lake.

Darryl.

The Algonquin Outfitter's blog http://.algonquinoutfitters.blogspot.com/
has some pics taken yesterday of Oxtongue lake.

Still pretty solid.

The Flashearth website that was posted here last week has helped me see how far north the open water is. So far it looks like the lakes just north of the great lakes are softening up. FYI, we are starting to see the odd patch of grass in the fields. I can't see my lawn yet. A bit of grass is showing at the edges of my driveway and the snowbanks are down to 3 to 4 ft now.

I bought 2 bug jackets today!

The weather is looking bad for the weekend at the park

I got a warning about it, by e-mail from a member, as I was planning on heading up this weekend, and in it Bob M wrote:

Re your trip to AP this weekend. Not saying you shouldn't go, but
seeing you're taking your kids, you should check this out:

regards
Bob M

The link gets you this:

While I wont decide till late Friday afternoon, I don't see the point of taking the kids and then having them be wet and cold and restless.

The rain would be good for the ice though, if only the weather would heat up a bit more.

Jeff
