I drove by Scugog Lake on Sunday and it was still frozen solid, yesterday it was almost open, it seems with all this warm weather and rain the lakes in southern Ontario are finally opening up.
Now for the bad news. "there remains four feet of snow in Algonquin Park."
It's quite possible, we'll be paddling on Rock Lake, and tossing snowballs around the campsite.
Maybe even get a snowstorm.

Scugog remains ice covered, but the Nonqon river has opened up. I was able to get out for a nice paddle Sunday afternoon, but had to dodge a number of large ice chunks floating downstream. I would guess that Scugog may be another week before it opens up completely. Algonquin area lakes are usually at least a couple of weeks behind. It doesn't look good for those that have planned early season trout fishing trips.
