Harlan Swhartz will soon be starting his amazing adventure that will start in Canoe Lake through to Kiosk and on to Lake Winnepeg. He will not be taking the easy route through the great lakes. The adventure will be entirely inland lakes and rivers.
This will be a difficult trip that has captured my imagination.

I hope you find everything that you seek. Best wishes for a safe and successful journey.
Thanks TT. I'm not internet savy so thanks for making it easier for others to link to MOAST(Mother Of All "SOLO" Trips).
I printed out the intended route--Then used toporama to follow Harlans route. I got lost several times trying to follow it across Ontario. I am intrigued with the amount of planning and help that Harlan recieved in this venture.
I also applaud the sponsors Harlan has that help in any way they can. I am not involved in any way with the commercial aspects of outdoor enjoyment, but I have been watching this with interest hoping that others would help with the venture. I'm sure that this type of venture is costly in both time and financial resources to Harlan.

Yeah j67, this looks really expensive. I think one of his posts stated 12k$ of his own money and another 6k$ in sponsors. The picture he posted showing the map with the trace of his route is awe inspiring. Algonquin looks like just a tiny block on the corner of the map. I don't know Harlan, but I hope he has a safe journey and the ice recedes soon for his departure. He's doing something few people could ever do solo.
I emailed Harlan a couple months back when i came across his story on myccr. i was curious about his canoeing experience because while i think this sort of adventure is completely awesome, it's obviously got its dangers. he said "I've been paddling for only about 5 years. Before that, I was always in the bush fishing or hunting or messing around. my skills aren't as good as others on this site, but that's okay. I'm absolutely confident in my abilities and discipline to make correct decisions and stay out of trouble.". very approachable guy. this reminds me of those two brothers who went across Canada (their videos are on youtube). very inspiring, in any case, and i hope he sees through it safely.
