So I finally found what i think was a good good deal on a used first canoe!

It's a Marine Beach (Hamilton made), 16' with aluminum gunwales and it came with 2 paddles...it seems to be in decent shape - got it for $250

My question is what sort of regular maintenance should I do? is there any type of product i can apply to the hull?

Where should I store it? I assume out of the sun? Currently, it's sitting in my yard in a shaded spot turned over (hull facing up)

Thanks and looking forward to a good canoe season!

Hamilton Canoe?

Congrats!

Hull up storage is the only way to avoid warping of the hull over time. Storing indoors or covered will prolong any paint (gel coat) wear. Avoid putting a tarp directly over it during the winter. Make a layer of air between the tarp and hull if you use one. Other than that, most current day epoxy's can withstand about -45 worth of temps before they will begin to break down.

How much does your craft weight?
