Well I just made my reservation for my 1st solo trip to the interior! I'll be going just for the weekend so nothing big, only one short portage. I'm going in at Rock lake Saturday May 17th and headding down to Pen. I'll spend both nights on Pen before headding back out on the 19th. Just nice and simple as it will be my 1st solo trip as well as my 1st camping trip at all for my dog. Anyone else going to be in the area at that time?

I went on my first solo a year ago and coincidentally, I also went to Rock. I'm sure you will love it, but I hope you have better luck then me. While on Pen lake my first night a tornado touched down and cause all sorts of damage and some real tense moments.

I alsp headed to Pen and to Cydgale for my first solo.
Pen has great sites on the East side at half way down and beyond.

Thanks for the advice about the good sites. I've also been reading many trip logs to see what sites might be good, bad or otherwise. All the info helps. I just hope I'm able to get some trout while I'm in there as well. It sounds like many others have had good luck on Pen.

We fished the first bay on the left around the portage to Gem lake last week in Pen. I got 3 to the canoe and only landed one. Well at least my wife landed it. I blame her for the two I lost too, not on my pathetic fishing ability. I also heard something about setting the hook helps.
