I haven't read the article yet so I'll guess that his scariest moment was in the jungle when he spotted the panther and hightailed it back to the village!

I haven't checked out the article but I'd bet his scariest moment had something to do with a moose. I had a close call with a moose last September.

During a television interveiw promoting his show Les Stroud was asked which animal he feared most and which enviroment he found most difficult. To which he replied, a bull moose during rutting season and
blackflies in northern Ontario.

Not that I needed a reason to go to the Beer Store, but.....

I'll have to read the article again but I think it said up from Canoe Lake but away from any camp sites and Canoe Portage Routes in the middle of the bush.

Yes it was a Bull moose charge. He saw a cow moose in the bush and looked around didn't see any bulls around so he thought he would practice his moose calls. A few minutes later bull comes pounding out the bush red eyed. Then chased him up a tree. He stay up here for a couples hours.
