Algonquin's Logging Camps

After decades of walking through and past some of the Park's logging camps, I still don't know who operated each one and when. Does anyone have old photographs? For instance, on the Hiah portage on the upper Nipissing, the portage goes right through the main building. There are camps all the way down to Cedar Lake. Does anyone know where to find this information? Maybe it's already lost to time.

www.markinthepark.com mirrors a download site for the best map of APP ever. It has information on many of the logging camps, locations, owners.

Sounds like a question of Jeffery McMurtrie but he's in the Park for another 2 weeks.

Maybe our Park historian Rick would know?

I haven't seen Rick on here in months.
If he doesn't show up in a day or so, I could dig up his email and see if he is available to stop in.

Hmmmm that's a tricky question. Old maps just showed a black square with the letters L.C. to indicate camps... maybe though if you combined that info with a map that showed license areas you'd get somewhere. I can supply old maps and I can scan a license map if you are that interested... .

P.S. The FoA map shows the wrong location of Hiah L - older maps have it placed one lake east. In fact where the FoA map shows Hiah L there isn't even a real lake.
