Hmmmm :-( Expensive shirts for someone!!

Oh My.... And I thought this was going to be straight forward

Just got my Bank statement and it has the full payment for the shirts
which are being made and should be delivered in about 7-9 days (To ME)

Of course mail out and pickup by some is still a bit later after I reveive the shirts

Problem is :

I have paid the full bill in advance in good faith

Good news I guess is the company has cashed my payment for the total cost
so the shipment is not being delayed due to NSF
For the record, the total cost of 37 shirts has been paid in FULL
and the order is not delayed because of a returned chq

Subtotal
360.96

Shipping Cost (UPS Standard)
29.88

GST/HST
19.54

PST
28.88

Total
$439.26

BUT today I got my bank statement and on

Jun 20, 2008 there was a RETURNED CHEQUE due to NSF of XX.XX ( value deleted to hide culprit!!)

Bad/Sad news is NSF items† on my account have a surcharge
for NSF returned cheques

If returned they charge me $42.50 service fee ( † = TD Canada Trust)
and as well likely the originators bank will also charge a surcharge!

SO:
Somebody just bought some VERY expensive SHIRTS

The chq was for more than 1 shirt ( i.e > $21 )
so at least those of you who only ordered one
shirt can breathe eas
Since the guilty party ordered more than one shirt.... at least
the surcharge is easier to absorb as it is split over the total cost of multiple shirts

Hopefully the new MO or certified chq for the original amount and surcharge
of $42.50 will be in the mail soonest

BTW: I have requested a copy of the returned chq as my statement doesn't normally
include such and hopefully there is not any more additional surcharges.
I can then discreetly contact the individual with the item for cost recovery
as I have ranted enough now and perhaps overcome whatever concerns I have for
volunteering to do this

So sorry to hear that happened.

Keep us posted.

What you've done is above and beyond and I think if you don't recover costs I know I'll be willing to chip in to help offset the cost so you don't have to eat the extra.

Hopefully it's just a bank error and not to serious.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Hey, I love it!!! hahahahahahahahahahahahaha...

I've sent Racoon an email telling him this. Looks like I got an expensive shirt now. I don't think I'll wear it though, I'm gonna frame it and hang
it on my wall!!! hahahahahahahahahahahaha LOTFLMAO bahahahahahahah

Now comes the fun part! I did nothing wrong....he cashed the cheque early!!! So really, it's his error not mine. hahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha
Oh my God, I'm almost peeing my pants!!! h ahahahahahahahahaha This is too much!! I've got to go to Sec!!! I'll make arrangements to settle this somehow. Looks like we might have to go to Court and each hire a lawyer to settle this!!! hahahahahahahaha

So AAers.....let's have a vote!!! Who's wrong here???? Me or Racoon????
In Court of Law, who would win??? Me or Racoon????

You know what this brings to mind ?

Parking sign for the CCEA ( Ottawa Exhibition) at local garage

Friends: $20
Family $40
Customers $10

Well at least if you pee your pants ... hopefully the
Shirts is long enough to cover the stain

But at the new cost they might be better hung on the wall as
a salute to your fame as "Bo Knows"
( knows what I am not sure
but after a few beer /wine and you place a guitar
in his hands.... his brain and memory have a fantastic recovery .. and thankfully this has been recorded

Perhaps it could of been the whiskey.. MIGHT OF BEEN THE GIN

No Sweat... amends can be arranged

P.S. I think DogByte was correct in sending CA$H..
No hassle.. You should of seen the loops and hoops in
finding a post office that had enough cash to cash the
Money orders ... After the 5th PO.. they mentioned I
could always deposit the MO in my ban as a chq ( Go Figure )

Perhaps/Maybe next time.. ( ???)
I could order hats or sweats or maybe something else..

Obviously the BIKINIs and/or THONGS
won't be large enough to avoid hearing
" Watch'cha staring at"
comments for wearer since the LOGO would not be
"Large enough" to view from a sensible distance

However... such apparrel would definately be of value if would was stranded and needed to signal for rescue

Sadly there are NO men's equivalent clothing

so I guess the Politically correct
" AA Mans calendars" are presently on hold
and also we must resort to other means of signaling for help in distress

I was under the impression that a bank wont cash a post dated cheque until the date on the cheque. I'd be checking with them on this one. Those buggers make too much money as it is.

Hmmm

June 27 2008, 11:56 AM

If the cheques were deposited with a teller I'm sure they would have noticed the post dating .But it was probably done at a bank machine. Interesting question if the bank id responsible. But if not I'd have to side with Bo. Just another reason not to stick your neck out for anyone or anything - unless you're willing to take one on the chin.

Re: Hmmmm :-( Expensive shirts for someone!!

June 27 2008, 1:31 PM

If the cheque is post dated, it's the bank's fault. I've deposited several cheques like this, in person and via the machine. Sometimes the teller would sneer that it's post dated and suggests I come back. Yeah, that's what my fees pay for. So I gave up on tellers and dropped it in the machine. Works every time.

Fight it out with the bank. Clearly their mistake. An understandable one, but you guys shouldn't be left holding the bag on this.

Banks charging fees on Racoon is just stupid imo. It's not his fault if someone writes a bad cheque.

Double team them. Racoon go to your bank at the same time Bo goes to his. Then call each other and get everyone on the phone together. Even better if it's the same bank. Tie up as many employees as you can, a couple tellers a couple supervisors, don't let anyone leave the rooms. I find that's a great method to getting things solved fast. That's right, nobody gets any work done until this is resolved.

Going up the ladder just lets them free up a staff member who actuall gets work done. Oh it's great to get the manager involved. Better when the manager realises their staff isn't getting back to the counter until everything is fixed. Plus they usually need a teller to fix the charges anyway, no sense having to get back in line.

And that's my tip for dealing with buck-passers in customer service. And yes, I work in customer service and apply my ethic to myself.

Solution: IMHO simple

June 27 2008, 2:51 PM

I cashed the cheques assumming it was valid

I don't have time to waste in a bank ( thats why i use
machines) except when necessary ) rather spend that time traveling to get in my canoe

Bottom liner: I get charged a surcharge as I refuse to
pay monthly bank fees to cover such contingency but I guess that just makes me a naive buisness acceptor of cheques
and obiously DogBytes method of CASH works in all cases
hence forth ( or MO / valid chq also have been known to work )

I'm Sure BoKnows also has an addition charge ( maybe he pays the extra monthly fee for such mishaps) and IMHO its up to
him to sort it out ( once he stops laughing/peeing )

I hold some collateral still

BTW: I did chat with my bank on the phone to
confirm about the cost (by phone)
and it looks likely that they are willing to drop the charge
to $25 as apparently they think my ( well mostly my sweethearts money on deposit there ) is worth it as a
sign of good CRM

Now I'm going to go canoeing... Wasted too much time already
and now its starting to blow/rain... Perhaps soon you will
hear the echo
" Hey MOTHER NATURE....IS THAT THE BEST YOU CAN DO "hehehe.
I luv solo in a safe enviroment in such weather as prep
for future scenarios. Ps. No lightning ..... That's Sean(of Ajax)'s trick

Oh---Almost forgot
Hey Anon... Best you learn more about reverse lookup
as ANON isn't very anonymous
ESPECIALLY when your IP address 67.204.18.232
is part of your posting.

Worse case... As I see it
Anon changes his IP address in shame
( but best to change ones name as well to address the
issue if one wants to really remain anonymous

I end up with two sleeveless shirts with the AA logo

Oh geez Racoon, you need to de-stress. Go paddle and think of the thong girl. I will not think of a man in a thong ... because a man in a thong ... well, it's just not right

I agree with Joan regarding thongs, with the amendment that some women shouldn't wear them either.

Easy to settle disputes with guys, especially when they are both Sens fans. Water under the bridge. What t-shirt problem? Sens will be hoisting Sir Stanley 11 months from now.

Happy Paddling Rac n.

Don't forget to check out the historic log raft - she's at Nepean Sailing Club tonight.

Raccoon,

What's with your shame comments ? I didn't bounce any cheques . BTW I pay some $4 /month for overdraft protection. That means AA'er or not , I write a cheque and it will clear for sure.

Re: ????

June 27 2008, 8:03 PM

Hi everyone,

I do not work at a bank or do I pretend to understand the rules of "post-dated cheques", but I can relate a similar story.

I handed a postdated cheque to my childrens day-care and they in-turn proceded to deposit it, a full week in advance of the posted date, resulting in a NSF charge to me.

When I brought this to the banks attention, I was told it was MY problem. The mere act of GIVING a cheque on an account with insuffient funds (at the time) made it my responsibility.

The bank disregarded all penalty charges thankfully, but I no longer issue post-dated cheques because of this.

Banks aren't responsible for that stuff. Just like good old Mr Gov is never responsible if they over pay you for something.

Well now... All is fixed

July 3 2008, 9:17 AM

I did have a chat with my bank and
seems they want to keep my buisness

They have agreed to drop the returned chq fee
I guess thanks to Team Canada contribution ( INCOME TAX REFUND)
it appears that they figured out I could be given Select service
status due to existing balance which waives the bank charges for the month .

But one had to ask
