Just read recent (July) Ontario Out of Doors magazine

Splake : Did we know that the only place in Ontarion that Splake has
been know to naturally reproduce is ALGONQUIN PARK?

D.A.D.
Deprived Angler Disorder

Adopt an angler program and you might win the grand prize
( 176XT fully equipped Startos fishing boat)
Don't fret if you have no use of such a motorized beast because
I'll trade you a 16' Scott Prospector and two paddles "even stephen"
if you win Might even throw in two PFD's

Of course I'd only use this on Opeongo/Cedar and Kiosk Lakes
in my future trips as a personal water taxi to better interior trips

Lastly... Strange that the best / great deal of
a family fishing trip advertized in an Ontario magazine
( ~ $500 for 6 days)
is in QUEBEC at a place 2.5 hours north of Montreal complete with personal cabin accomodation.
Includes Hot-tub, massage, free boats with elecric motor or kayak
and of course guaranteed TROUT catch ( they have to enforce the quota on Rainbow and Speckled trout )..

Allons'y

Now if only this was located at Big Trout and its location
was kept a secret !

Hmmm

Who know?

BK has tales of Deliverance type episodes in the centre
of AP

and
Perhaps in the far interior, by somebody called SPLAKE and his brudder SPLAKE , there is a
ritual practiced by some that may account for the natural reproduction.

Now get you mind out of the gutter Barbara and get fishing

I don't believe that as splake don't reproduce to the
best of my knowledge. It is a hybrid trout.

Yup, there are 5 lakes in Algonquin with a natural population- Jake Lake is one and I won't tell you the other four as the lakes are very sensitive to pressure.
From Wikipedia "splake reproduction is extremely rare, for behavioural reasons, outside the hatchery environment. The only known natural reproduction has occurred in 5 lakes in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada and, in each case, only a handful of progeny were produced."
