Free Garmin 38 GPS

I read in a thread talk about GPS.

I have a Garmin 38 GPS that I won as a door prize at some Xmas function
when I lived in Rankin Inlet. I think I won it in the year 2000. It is
too friggin complicated for this ole fellow and although I've tried to
figure it out, it's just taking up space at the moment.

I'll give it away for free if someone wants it.

I'll wait for a week for any interest and if more than one AAer wishes it,
I'll make a draw. Should you win it, you'll have to make arrangements to
get it and/or pay for me to mail it to you.

Dueling match :-) winner wins GPS

July 7 2008, 8:51 AM

Hmmmm...

Sounds like there could be a requirement for a match
to determine the winner

Paddles at 30 ' on your marks , get set, go!

Or perhaps he who carries Bo's canoe the most, cooks him the most
food or listens the most attentively to his music

Hey Bo... GPS is not that difficult and since you are considering a larger boat and larger waters you might down the road be advised to get a new style and the book GPS for Dummies

The newer one are rather simple ( Turn on and use for most functions...
The MOB function might be the best and easiest to master )

Glad to hear you are canoeing again..
That trusty old green 14' St Maurice
has seen many through rougher waters that that small boat and motor you
use.. You should of bought the 14' boat and trailer with 9.5 that I sold 2 years ago for $800 .....

BTW:
Great deals on boats c/w motor and trailer in most Outdoors magazines
and great deals come fall or Spring at boat shows
( Ledgend Boat is my recommendation for the boat and a 4 stroke 9.9-F
yamaha outboard is a perfect match to such a 14' craft )
Buy one with a decent trailer and you can still take the kitchen sink
when you go fishing )

I'd be interested in the draw, as well.

Might be too late or not applicable to some AA goers, but a fishing tournament with GPS prize would be neat. Well, in general, are we going to have a fishing competition this year? Markus will have to guesstimate his fish in that case . I'm not the most fruitful trout fisherman but I enjoyed hearing fishing reports. I suppose with the Spring opener over already that this is a bit late to start. Maybe a bass competition.

Change that to a Honda 9.9, and this is the one:

For the Garmin 38, here's a page that might be of some help:

Racoon:

Your trailer has been sold.....guy picking it up this weekend...I'll ask for
Licence Plate back once he gets it to where it's going.

4 HP Evinrude motor is up for sale for $550. Won't need it any more. Ad
going in Ottawa Citizen today.

I still have dad's small boat which I'll keep for rowing on small lakes
like Sec. Will invest in car racks for my car as the boat is so light and
I can carry it myself like a canoe if need be.

No fishing contest, no photo contest, just a draw to see who wins it.

I don't need it, will never use it, so I thought it would be a good gesture
to give it to someone on this AA site who might want it and use it.

Everyone who tells me that want me to put their name in for it will be
in. I'll make the draw sometime next week.

10 names so far for the draw, with 3 votes for Jeffery McMurtrie!!!

Any objections if I just give it to Jeffery for all the intensive work he has done on his map that we are all using???
