One/two nighter in the fall, ideas?

I want to take a trip to the park this fall, but I don't know where exactly to stay. I want to be in/near the corridor (well, have to be to see the new exhibit). I want a taste of the backcountry, but not a long paddle (less than an hour), preferably a lake with motor restrictions (not necessary though) and good fishing. I know I've left only a few choices, some being Canisbay (paddle-in sites), Rock Lake, Galeairy, and Whitefish. Any advice? How are the sites/colours/fishing/sunsets on these lakes? Any info/other ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Trainman

it isn't interior but OutdoorAdventureCanada.com holds a Fall Gathering in early October at Whitefish Lake... all AA'ers are welcome but you have to sign into the other site and post your name on the list so I know how many people to expect...

there are a lot of us and we go for a day paddle and some of us go hiking... if it is solitude you are looking for then this isn't it... but hey, I thought I'd mention it anyway (gives me a good chance to meet some AA'ers)

Hey WC maybe you should start a thread on here about the gathering and get some AA'ers up there too.

Sounds like a plan Wild Child and I could be very much interested. Just
when in October is it exactly???

A few splake lakes in the area I can definitely fish and get my "fix".

Forget when it is. I just noticed you gave a thread that must have the date
and I'll look at it.

Any other AAers interested in this??????

Trainman:

If you have never been to the Canisbay paddle-in sites, I would heartily
recommend it. They are very nice and spacious and very close to highway
corridor as well for daytrips, etc.

The water is crystal clear and cold. Lake is spring fed. A good lake to
fish for lake trout too if your interested if you go before end of September
which is when lake trout season closes. I don't believe there are splake
in Canisbay, but I could be wrong. I have only caught lake trout.

Nice trail at the end of the lake too if you're into hiking.

Thanks everybody, if I can make it up (fingers crossed!) then I think I'll take Bo's advice and go Canisbay (catch some trout, make a good shore lunch).

Thanks again,

I might want in on that. It will depend on how much funding this North Channel trip takes - I might not have anything left for a fall trip!
