Hi all,

Does anyone want to join a few of us 'AAers' for a weekend get together on Little Island Lake Oct. 17-19 ?

I've never been there but from reading some trip logs it seems the island has several campsites that would work for us.
And Cache Lake (the access point) should help shelter us from any cold Oct. winds on the way in and out.

Can't make it, but you've picked a good spot. The site at the western end of the island is huge, and might make a good gathering place.

I'm serious thinking about it. At least maybe stopping in. I think I could pull that off as a day paddle via Tanamakoon lake. Do you guys like visitors?

Unless I win 6-49 can't make it. I'll be in the park the weekend before and making the trip back in one week is to much for this Windsor boy. I wish I was in for the week inbetween to make both trips.....

The date is getting closer. I have not been to the park since early June. Cant wait to get back!!!

I would have liked to come out for this weekend getaway, but unfortunately I will have to leave it for another time. That weekend looks like it's going to be an important changeover for one of our biggest clients at work, and I will need to be around in case there are any problems.

Thanks for the invite tho, and hopefully there will be another opportunity in the near future!

i am available all that week, starting from fri morning the 17th at sun up. taking my mattawa canoe. who needs a ride into camp that morning??

These long John's are have too much crotch space and are 8 sizes tooo big

But "senior" said the outfitter, you need that extra clothing size to
leap over the 10' snow banks

Joan & I are still ago to join your get-together.
BTW, during the week of September 22-26, we saw what we believe was the ISS pass over us.
It seemed to be tracking west to east, and this occurred every night around 8pm, the ISS(if that is what it was, moved higher in latitude(Than each previous night), as it passed by each night. Was this the ISS? TIA!

You can check the schedule for the ISS, and other sky-thingies, by going to http://www.heavens-above.com/

If you register with them, you can set up a bunch of different locations to get the schedules for. We've got our house, a few locations in Algonquin, and a couple of others set up. That way, we can check ahead of time before we head out anywhere.

Oooh...looks like the ISS had a major boost recently.

Hi all,

I think we should try for one of the island sites. Foxco has said one of the western ones was big enough for our group.
Although, if the south-east one is good in size I would rather take it so we'll be protected from any cold
north-west winds and we'll have the morning sun. So when entering the lake from Tanamakoon, head along the
south shore of the island and that way we can check the sites out.

I know that you can see the Space Shuttle when it is up by the ISS, so I would think that you could see
the Russian capsule as well - not sure though.
It's easy to see the shuttle when it is near the ISS but not docked with it.
When the shuttle is docked it's harder to recognize.

this pass weekend and stayed on the North-East site on the island.

The area around the fire pit was open and you had a view of the night sky.
We were able to pitch three tents on the site and a shelter tarp. There is a "table" on the site where we did our cooking.

Is everyone still attending? Also what day is everyone heading in? Friday or Saturday?

I have friday off work. So I was thinking about stopping in should the weather and wind cooperate. Will anyone be around? If you don't mind a day visitor.

I hope to be at the put-in mid morning on Friday.
Some others are supposed to be launching earlier than that on the Fri. So by all means SBA, try and stop by.

Appears my older brother has fallen again and is staying now with me at
my cottage. Doped up on morphine for pain and best that somebody be
with him till we can triage the issue of him staying alone or we take him home with us.

Emergency just said it's chronic pain ( hence the morphine) from what appears
to be a low back injury or yet another re-broken rib which kept him
from the Sept Rock lake trip. Specialist appointment next week if we
make it that long and don't end up back to emergency.
