In late September I took a solo trip out of access point one and I launched from Northern Wilderness outfitters as recommended by someone on this site, they were great.

The first day was an easy one, as I was up way too late the night before, I got to my site on North Tea and was ready to cook some food. I then realized that some gear had fallen out of my bag in the car. I was missing my stove, a pot and soap, no time to go back, it was time to improvise. I had a small square of tin foil that I formed into a pot shape and lit a fire, ever so delicately added some water, it worked! The tin foil was the really cheap kind and I knew I had to baby this new make shift pot if it was going to survive 4 nights. I kept it in my hat, tied under the front canoe seat, only ever taking it out to put it on the grill. It made it the whole trip only to be ceremoniously crumpled up after the last meal.

I did the Three Mile loop, it was stunning, leaves changing, perfect weather, not a drop of rain.

A real gem of a story...necessity is the mother of invention! I once field dressed a whitetail deer with a can-opener because my mindless error was to forget my knife.

Surprised it lasted so long, to be honest. If it were mine it probably wouldn't have survived its first trial!

Glad to hear the trip was good. That loop is spectacular.
