I should really be thanking you Barry for starting your photo contests as they were what gave us the idea to have our own contest. Everyone here at Algonquin Adventures have been a big part of our contests over the last year. I just wanted to drop by and thank you Barry and the entire group here at Algonquin Adventures for so generously sharing their wonderful photography skills with us.

Links to the Spring and Summer photo contests are below if you want to see what was entered in those contests:

Wildlife Photo Contest Closes on Jan 15th

January 3 2009, 11:33 AM

Just a little less than two weeks to get your Algonquin Park Wildlife photos into the Algonquin Outfitters / Algonquin Adventures winter photo contest.

Pop on over to http://www.algonquinoutfitters.com/contest to upload your photos and fill out the form to enter.

Remember we have some great prizes for our 1st 2nd and 3rd place winners, totaling over $300 in prizes, plus bragging rights of coarse.

As always I'm astounded with the quality of the photos we've received.

Thus far we have some great images of: Moose, Frogs, Loons, Eagles, Spiders, Squirrels, Ducks, Greyjays, Mergansers, Wolves, Martins, Butterflies, Otters, Turtles, even Porcupines and inchworms. Looks like we're still missing bears? Any last calls for a picture of a bear?

There's still time to get you photo in before judging starts on the 15th of January, so start digging through those archives and let's see what other great shots you can come up with.

You can see the gallery online at: http://picasaweb.google.com/AlgonquinOutfitters/AOFallWinterPhotoContest?feat=directlink

Fishing Pictures

January 3 2009, 12:03 PM

I didn't see any fish or fishing pics in the examples.
I suppose its a wildlife interacting with people/scenary contest so maybe fishing pics are not appropriate?

Just curious?

Fishing Pictures

January 5 2009, 12:40 PM

Fishing pictures would be ok to enter into the contest, although I don't know how well they fit into the "Wildlife and People" category. They sure would meet the Wildlife and People theme in my eyes.. just the judges may want to see more typical "Wildlife" photographs.

Some people have taken the term wildlife to mean their wild adventures in Algonquin Park, I've posted those picture to the gallery also even though they don't actually include any non human animals.

"Eager Beavers, Ready To Go! Rock Lake APP". We were about to head out with our two children on a 5 day trip interior. It turned out this was the only time they needed sunscreen as it proceeded to rain every day. That was fine with us as their proved to be few people and more wild life. Rock Lake Boat launch Michele Mclachlan - London Nov 17, 2008 510×768 pixels 74KB Filename: Eager Beavers.jpg Camera: n/a Model: n/a ISO: n/a Exposure: n/a Aperture: n/a Focal Length: n/a Flash Used: n/a Latitude: 45.524969° N Longitude: 78.413249° W.

Upon looking for the above picture I actually did find a great "FISHING" Picture in the gallery for the photo contest.

"Osprey With Lunch". I was standing on the dock at our cottage on Oxtongue Lake when I saw the Osprey try to land in a tree. When he realized that wasn't possible (holding the fish), he abruptly turned and head toward me. As he flew by I took several pictures, but this is by far the best.
