I am hoping to rent the Big Crow cabin sometime this coming spring.
I can't seem to find any inside/outside photos of this cabin. What kind of shape is it in? Good views of the lake? Day trip possibilities? Critter problems? I presume it could be reached in a day leaving from Opeongo, fer sure using a water taxi?
I think Mike Burns has photos of the inside and outside of the Big Crow cabin from the resupply trip log he wrote in September 2006.
You can find it in the trip log section under Opeongo access it's called Big Crow Re-supply Trip - Sep. 15th to 17th, 2006

Thanks Joan,
It figures, minutes after posting my question, I stumbled upon that exact trip-long from Mike B. Nice photos (exterior only), and it looks like you all had a good trip.
Any more info. is appreciated.
Thanks,
Goodfella

It has a nice lake view... easy access to the fire tower trail and close to the big pines trail as well... The portage by the big pines trail also has the remains from a logging camp on it.
Goodfella,
I just went through my pics and I only have one pic from inside of the
sign "History of Big Crow Cabin"
Lots of people have signed and left graffiti all around the sign on the wall.
sorry dood.....
Cheers

Like Jeff says, nice view...no sunsets though...good fresh water spring nearby too.
thanks for the info. and digging up those photos, the cabin looks pretty sweet.
F. Forest,
I must have missed your mini-log from the summer. A good little read and some great memories for your family. I also have 3 little guys that take trips with me into the Park. Great stuff!

do they rent these out in the winter? Never thought of it till just now but would make a nice destination in the winter. Hopefully they store some wood inside or close by.

Hi Chris,
nope, they do not rent in winter. They are NOT available for rent after thanksgiving. Would be quite a hike in to the Big Crow cabin by snowshoe. I figure it would take two to three days. Three if you're hiking in from Opeongo road, and not the docks.
Fred,
Ya, I missed your trip-log too! Must've been busy paddling myself
A very nice read sir, thank you fer sharing!
Hey Mike B,
I was only teasing you sir, I know you only took pic's of the plaque.

interesting thought though

Thanks Marcus I never really thought about it until I read this thread and the snowshoeing one. Got my brain working. It would definetly be an interesting endevaour if you where into it. Demanding and definetly not for everyone. Id probably take a quinzee or a wall tent over a big cabin anyways.
