Hi everyone,
Happy Holidays

I am starting to make plans for 09 Trout fishing in the park, and I think I have the opening date correct with Sat. April 25/09 for fishing Brook and Lake Trout in the park. Would someone let me know if this is correct or not?
Thank you for help

That should be the correct date as trout season in Algonquin usually always starts on the LAST Saturday of April.

I've been thinking of my openning trip since last May, but can't decide on the location, there are too many destinations to choose from.

Thanks Dano,
I am not sure myself, but I guess we have some time to think it over.

There is one SURE way to know about the fishing regulations in Ontario:

go to a Canadian Tire store, or an Ontario Tourism office, or any outdoors or tackle store and pick up a copy (free...free....free) of the 2008 / 2009 Ontario Fishing Regulations.

or read them on-line:

Opening day

Yuppers... The date is cast in concrete or
paper if you refer to the regs happy.gif

But the real stickler to planning is: ICE OUT coinciding with opening
day of trout season

At least we all still have the better part of 4 months to plan, change
plans and have a few alternate available for ICE out and road conditions to
start point happy.gif

Until then... Here's hoping Santa finds everyones house and
also that we all have the health and desire to trip again in 2009

For those planning trips, we have been going in for the last 17 years on the Tuesday or Wed. following the opener, we have found over the years that you have your diehards that have to be there for the opener then it backs off for the next wave coming in the following weekend so by being able to go in the Tuesday or Wed. you pretty much have the place to yourself. As we all pretty much know for spring fishing you are fishing the shore lines so it is nice not to see to many people. One year coming out from Big Porcupine area we counted 18 canoes coming in ( 36 anglers ) like I said to my son like lining up at the Grocery store. Hopefully that will help a few people plan their trips accordingly....anyone wanting to trade packing lists send me an email at ken.macdonald@gwlra.com.
