My brother and I were in Algonquin Park for a few days over Christmas doing part of the Western Uplands trail. We ended up leaving a day early due to the incredible amount of rain and in our wet and cold state we forgot to do an idiot check in the parking lot and accidentally left some items in the Western Uplands Parking lot.

We forgot a black bag with tent poles, an inflatable therma-rest and a foam therma-rest (z-rest), a shovel which is a black and yellow avalanche type shovel. Hopefully these things were found (or will be) and if you do find them please send me a message or email my brother at izak.weinstein at gmail.com. Thanks.

Haven't been up there since November but the first thing I'd do is call the Park Info line (www.algonquinadventures.com/resource/ContactsIndex.htm) and explain your case. Likely they have or can direct you to a lost and found source of some kind, and hope an honest sumaritan or park employee found it and reported it. No personal ID attached or business card recessed in the bag? Ah well..

Sorry for your loss, we've all been there to a certain degree. Worse case scenario is you get to out and buy new gear!

Thanks for the thought I did contact the park but, as of yet no luck. Unfortunately there wasn't any ID in the bag but I am still holding out hope. Maybe the spring melt will uncover lost (and not destroyed?) treasures. Things could definitely be worse than "having" to go gear shopping.

Found (partially)! My brother was contacted by the park this morning that the west gate has the Thermarest and black bag. Strange that the foam and poles (all were in the draw string bag) didn't also show up.

Any thoughts on probability of the other bag items showing-up? I can't believe someone would take a set of tent poles or a foamy especially when a prolite3 is right there?
