report

January 20 2009, 1:20 PM

Hey Mike .....

My report is almost written, but I am awaiting some photos. To feed some of your curiosity, the weekend was fantastic, the weather, while COLD at night was otherwise wonderful. (At night it dropped down to about minus 30 degrees.)

Jeffrey M and Andrew joined me for the weekend, and we met up with Shore Bound Angler as well for our Saturday snowshoeing..... which trail you ask ..... you'll have to wait for the trip log happy.gif

Because of the extreme cold we decided to stay at my cottage both nights, which while dissapointing at fist, turned out nice, (as we did go outside each night for firewood, and WOW was it COLD!

Again, more details to come, so stay tuned.

Sounds like a blast. Looking forward to more winter triplogs -- it'll promote bravery into those of us who've yet to do it!

Real camping eah ..... LOL ....

What hanging out in a 25 foot high Muskoka Room, with a roaring fire while enjoying a drink and watching the snow through 2 layers of glass isn't winter camping enought ... ohhh and did I mention the warm comfey beds, hot showers and flush toilets .....

I know, I know, it isn't, but you got to admit it's not a bad "plan B" either happy.gif

Room permitting, I'd love to come along and try a hot tent excursion though; it looks way cool, and just as warm as my cottage happy.gif

In all honesty you got to admit that with no fire to keep one warm, miunus 35 is very difficult, even with the best of gear.

Photos and log on their way though!

Hey Jeff,

Awesome TR and Kudos to Andrew for the excellent photos!

Too bad you had to stay in that dump of a cottage you have, huh? Sounds like a real rat trap. I'll bet the wine was vinegary too. (tongue in cheek, of course)

Cheers
