WOW..

That was a long trip to do in four days

I guess in May there are no roses to smell
so there was no need to slowdown and smell the roses wink.gif

I would like to do this loop and you have definately
inspired me to start planning but it will be a few days longer
but still likely in May or late Aug / early Sept

Hi guys,

Thanks for your comments and glad you enjoyed my report. Think we'll plan something less ambitious this year.

Not as young as I used to be.

Cool trip. A couple thoughts...

- I also usually settle on an itinerary that has just too much in it and have to hack out side trips or other stuff when we don't have time

- the power of flowing water can only be understood when you are subjected to its force in an awkward or unexpected manner. It is truly incredible just how powerful, relentless and dangerous water can be and you often don't know until it's too late.

- I know the couple of times that I've learned the lessons of raging water the first thought was "uh oh" and the second thought was "wow, having my heart lodged in my throat makes breathing difficult!".

- It's funny that certain destinations where you hope to really latch onto some nice fish often end up being poor fishing and areas where you didn't expect to catch them end up being the new hotspots.

Scott,

I have to tell you that I have been anticipating your TR for awhile now. In fact, I have had it in my favorites for days now, only now to get a chance to read it through. I enjoyed every morsel of it! As well, I also enjoy the flavor in which you write! You paint an interesting picture!

Like yourself, I am a true brookie/speckle fan and absolutely love a good brookie story. It sounds as though you did very well given your obstacles and dangerous encounter. I can't believe you didn't lose any gear! Someone was looking after you for sure! And yes, it is a drag that you lost your stringer of trout, but you were able to replenish that in no time at all.

Thanks again for an excellent TR! Perhaps we can meet up on a future trip in the park this year and tackle a few brookie lakes! No fast water for me however. wink.gif Keep those brook trout reports coming!

Cheers
Shawn

PaPaddler,

I definitely have a new found respect for the fast flowing water and Mother Nature in general. It's amazing what flashes though your mind in those split seconds. Thought I was a gonner for sure.

You are so right. It's the spots where you least expect to catch fish that you have the most success. If it wasn't for our misadventure, we would have missed out.

Shawn,

Thanks for your kind words. I too, enjoy reading the many trip-logs, fishing related or otherwise to get us through the winter. Maybe I'll see you out there on the water this Spring? Save a few Brookies for me and avoid the water hazards.

Regards,
