hmmmm....

Hey Tomek,

The Cottage casual restaurant - has good food and prices are okay.
On the Docks Pub has good pub style food.
3 Guys & a Stove has AWESOME food but is very pricey (Casual Fine Dining)
Tall Trees is the same as 3 guys & a stove
Family Place Restaurant has the best Pizza in town.
Louiss II Restaurant is suppose to be good too. (Ive never eaten here)

& of course there is Crabby Joes

I hope this helps

I agree with 3 Guys and a Stove....yeah, it's a little pricey, but worth it.
I think there's a King's Buffet downtown. Nothing like a Chinese buffet after a week in the bush.

I'd recommend Family Place, the Cottage, or On the Docks.

Dinner?

January 28 2009, 4:45 PM

Westside is good, cheap, but not my idea of a destination for dinner.
Louis II's is cheap, and if you are hungry, worth it, but its a family diner.

Cottage....?..ugh.

Steak House beside it...?...double ugh and another ugh thrown in.Worse meal last summer hands down.

Three Men and a Stove, 2.5 ughs, and frankly having been there numerous times, I do not know any reason why to go again.Overpriced, artsy w/o taste.

So...I say try La Dolce Vita, in behind City Hall. The Beef Carpaccio is very good, and do try a Lemoncello...oh my oh my.

Tall Trees, pricey and good food, but they have slipped a bit.

Pub grub? The pub on the other side of the street from The Cottage is pretty good for wings and beer , as is the On The DOcks pub in back of Pizza Pizza.

I can recommend Dairy Q, lol, right across from Walmart. Always a tasty cool treat after a week in the bush.

Yes Louis II is a great restaurant. Absolutely delicious food, large portions, pocket change prices. I've eaten there many times on the way home from Algonquin.

it was me!

January 29 2009, 12:40 PM

Hey Markus,

I think it was me that suggested Muskoka on the Rocks. It is great.........but it can be hit and miss once in awhile.

The last time I was there the ribs were a miss. sad.gif but hey everyone has an off night. Right?

Barbara is right Westside Fish & Chips does have the fish & chips in Huntsville. But I think that Muskoka Fish & Chip in Bracebridge is pretty darn good too but a little far from the park.

crap.....I'm starting to get hungry again. I think my canoe is going to sink this year. So much food so little time & $!

Ian - I think you should try the cottage & 3 guys again. Maybe you just hit them on an off night.

Ian, you must have been at 3 Guys on an off night. We've been a few times, and it's been fantastic. I'm thinking that if I have a g/f who is not thrilled with the idea of camping, 3 Guys on the way out would be a good incentive.
Now, 3 Guys does have a location at Blue Mountain in my neck of the woods, and I would agree with the 2.5 ughs and over-priced rating. Actually, I think that you could say that about any place at Blue.

If you're out there on the weekend, and looking for something in the middle of the day, Henriettas' out in Dwight has a brunch cafe set-up.

Formerly Foxco. I have been to 3 guys on so many occasions I cant count them.I have been a cottage there for alomst 50 years. I am somewhat of a foodie , not a snob though, and for the life of me I dont get what they are doing there. To whit, prices for the simplest of meals are far above normal, service has always been spotty and I always get the sense of it being a roadhouse...with high prices. The food is not bad, its just not that good, and not at all in line with the price.

I suppose for those prices I want ambience, attentive waiters and something memorable. I just dont get that in 3 Guys.

By the way, is Henriettas considered Dwight? For those not familiar, it is on the south side of #60 just after the #35 turnoff going east.

Oh man....sticky buns striaght from the oven. Get there early.

Henriettas' is definitely considered Dwight. I don't know quite how much baking is involved in the cafe set-up; I don't get out that way in the winter, and I believe they wrap that up by March before closing until May for the changeover to the bakery that most people know.

And yes, those sticky buns are to die for. Best in the province, I'd say.
