I just acquired a camera lens that I thought Sean of Ajax or someone else may be interested in, or know of someone who can put it to use.
It's a Vivitar, I think. f = 90 - 230mm Soligor Auto Zoom. 1:4.5 No. 1679762. It also comes with the original leather lens case. It has some more numbers and info on it and I can read that off to you if you like but I know nothing about camera lens.
If you think you can use this lens, you can have it. All i ask is that you pay the shipping. I paid 8$ to have it shipped to me so it would be that times two if you want it. 16$. Tell me what you think. It looks to be of an older version of a very expensive lens, but I'm not certain of the value. Regardless, you can have it if you can use it.
Email me and let me know.
Cheers
Shawn

This is a shot of the end where it connects to your camera.
Hey I'm sure Sean has checked this out already, so is there anyone who is interested in this? There's nothing wrong with it. Or is not worth the shipping?
Here's the transparent truth. I guy from another forum I belong to(Hunting)offered this up for the cost of shipping and after it sat there for a bit I offered up on it thinking about this site and all the "photo journalists", and thought I could give it a good home.
I thought for sure someone would jump on this. I know absolutely nothing about cameras, so feel free to enlighten me.
Cheers

okay i'm interested (a bit). i'll buy it but only if in two parts:
8 upfront (so u lose nothing, even if you don't get the rest [which you might imagine happening]).
when i get it, i send 10 (not 8) more.
so far, that lense is worth 16 (even to break up and examine) lol.
i made this public to help the trust
also.. do you live in toronto?
good of u to think of us,

Alex,
First of all, your math is terrible.
Secondly, I'm not "selling" this lens. I simply wanted to recoup my shipping charges, that's all.
If you're afraid of getting ripped off by me, keep your money. Email me your mailing address and I'll ship it you.
And personally, I don't require any "help" trusting members on this forum - but thanks, I'll keep it in mind.
I hope you enjoy the lens.
Cheers

Pathfinder,
1. your saying that my math is mistaken requires that you see it not do the job i sent it to do. i think you missunderstood the 'job' part. i said 8, plus 10, because that would give you more than what you asked for- which was 8+8. i was expecting to send you quite some more once having seen the lense was good.
2. it is a sell (not to say anything with that is wrong) when you ask for twice what you paid. if you wanted only to recoup your ship-charges, then you would state 8, not 16, since 8 is what you paid.
3. it's not about getting ripped by You. it's about doing distant transactions, which has defaulted as being a shady activity (to me), and so i was comforted by sending 8 first, then the rest+, when the item arrived. im sorry if you took offense to this. it's not about you.
4. i don't recall saying that you require help trusting members on this forum, so i am not sure why you specified that you do not require thus help. i don't know who you are, and that is why (to me) you may have been one not to trust. simple as that. again, i am sorry if you took offense to this. was not meant that way at all.

algoalex,
I think what Pathfinder was trying to say was, he originally paid $8 for the shipping to him. He clearly states all he wants is his $8 back. So if he ships to you it will cost another $8, hense the $16 charge. His $8 and a separate $8 for the new shipping charge.

Anon, thanks for helping me see the light :)
of course!, 16 covers the initial send and the new. for some reason, i saw the lense to pass around perpetually via 8bucks (per pass), keeping everyone in balance, as if it were tossed between hands. you both are quite right, sorry for the confusion here. it's kind of interesting though: essentially, i am buying two shipments of a single item- the third person buys three, the fourth four, the fifth five, all while the shipment could have gone from start to fifth for $8. where did all that other money go??! Not to shipment! to the Episode of shipment. and since that episode is belonged to the postal, the postal gets that money. a bit similar to the movie "there will be blood": he 'drinks' the oil of distant places from his little far off hole, because, since liquids move in as liquids move out, he gets oil from below and that oil from far. [as opposed to if he dug for something solid, like gold].
