It is a nice tiny cabin, if you were staying there in the spring or fall, it would heat up quite nicely. I have never stayed there, but did a daytrip there one year with Jake. Here's some photos of the Tattler Lake cabin...

little advice

Do not sleep on the floor. You will be kept awake all night by the mice! A few years back our 6 man group stayed there and two slept on the floor (lost at rock/paper/scissors). After no sleep the first night, they slept in the tent the remaining of our stay. They were cold but got some sleep.

Question?

Do you pick up the keys when you check in? or are they left unlocked?

During the rental season, you have to check in with the access office, get your permits, and the key.
The access #17 office is not computerized, or at least it wasn't the last time we were there, so permits need to be completed manually.
Always take a minimum of cleaning supplies with you to the cabins. A small bottle of bleach, some j-cloths or sponges, extra garbage bags, etc. Just a handy tip, based on past experience.

I have a few pics and will post later when I am at home.
just a little info
the cabin is usually stocked with cards, candles, propane and all kinds of useful stuff
this is a nice and easy cabin to get to should not take very long at all to get there, its only about 5 miles from the huge beach campsite on booth, you can keep that in mind when you pass it lol
(only 5 miles left)

We've set up a tent inside a cabin in order to get a good sleep without mice on us!

Tattler Cabin was the first time ever to Algonquin my girlfriend. We both enjoyed it and only seen 2 mouse droppings, they were not a problem for us. This was mid-June 2005, maybe things have changed since.

Trainman,
I think you will really enjoy this cabin. I spent 4 nights there last May and loved it.
The distance to the cabin from access #17 is about 4 hours, not too long but long enough to feel like your "in the Park". Lots of day trips and exploring options and a cold-water spring available also. The seclusion is great, I did not see another soul until I ventured south and back to my truck.
In regards to a mouse problem, did not see a single one. In fact, with the exception of mouse traps left un-used in the cupboards (brought in by others), no evidence of mice at all. We did however, have a resident beaver and a family of otters that made several appearances.
Enjoy!

Hi Trainman,
There are a few more pictures from my trip to Tattler here: http://picasaweb.google.com/smedleyco/TattlerCabinAlgonquin
We had a great May long weekend there a couple of years ago. Mice weren't a problem, but you knew they were around.
