Most of the new roads seem to be right beside canoe routes.

If you are referring to the maps near the bottom of Appendix 3 Jeffrey, you are right. These new routes don't jive with me at all. Closer to the LAKES, Look at the Three Mile Lake one. Jeez...Three Mile Lake is a pain in the arse to get to, no matter which way you go, then once you get there, it sure would be nice not to have to listen to trucks. My god what are these people thinking? I had thought we asked for increased setbacks from canoe routes. not DECREASED!
Look how close they come to McCarthy creek too. A Marsh. Let's just carve up the whole park, no regard for marsh or lake ecosystems or canoe routes.

Let's get down to AFA nuts and bolts in the ABR forums

Let's move this discussion over to the ABR forum. I think that's a more appropriate venue for ABR members to discuss it in depth. OK?

Algonquin ReSource Extraction and Wilderness Improvement ProgrammE

Reading the news of more 'sustainable' logging in the park has led me to some gallows humour: develop a new name for the logging programme with a punchy acronym:

....sitting by the camp fire looking out on the lake. listen and what do you hear the call of a loon a beaver smacking his tail and maybe the call of a wolf and of course if you are REALLY lucky a huge diesel truck passing by your camp site
