I can't go into the park this year because my father inlaw is very sick with Cancer.

Does anybody out there know any lakes close to highway #60 with good lake trout or speck fishing.

Hi Rick, as for good fishing near hwy 60, well the fishing pressure on some lakes is heavy, but if you don't mind doing an 1800 or so meters portage, you can try Pinetree Lake {access #12}. We were in there 2 years ago and caught 4 lakers between 2 and 5 lbs.
Not the best of fishing, but ok for being close to the hwy.

While you may or may not catch a trout

The in is easy and you will have fun

The island campsite is a good place to have lunch

is your best bet. if fished properly you will have to throw back fish that are not within the slot size on this lake.
