As long as I get a report by Friday afternoon that the ice is out and we are able to get to the island we will be there Saturday morning.

Just curious as to when exactly you will be up here for this weekend. I likely won't be able to go as I posted on the ice out post but my Wife has just said that she isn't against me going but I'd have to go home 1st and get my gear together so I'm still not sure but I'd like some details if you could please.

LAD_Mavric, The Rock Lake office(if it;s the same hours as last year), doesn't open till 9am, but I was there early last year and I figure we'll be showing up early anyhoo, but we'll probably zip down to the campground to take a look at the lake, if your report says there is ice, but Joan pretty much hit it on the head, around 9-9:15 will be launching, I hope!

How long of a paddle is it?

I am at work and can't check my map. I just looked at the weather forcast and I am dying to try out my new canoe and was thinking of just coming up for the day as I have obligations Sunday. I am wondering how long of a paddle is it to where you guys will be.
I'm thinking maybe a day trip to Rose Island on Saturday afternoon but if the weather is bad & windy then I think the canoe will stay on top of the car. but I'll try my best to meet up with you guys.

Confirmed by staff at campground office, Rock Lake is 100% ICE-FREE!!
I'm staying on site #73, southernmost tip of the campground, if anyone is in the area tonite. Otherwise, I'll see you all in the morning! ROSE ISLAND OR BUST!!

What timing that was -- campground staff just popped by my site to make sure everything was okay. I asked her what time the office opens in the morning. She said she will be opening at 8:30 AM ... and they also have fishing license renewal stickers too.

Yes I just got back from my afternoon trip into the park and I went into Rock Lake Campground, The road is in great condition but does have some soft spots near the edges. The Access point is in great shape as well and the water level is just an inch or two above the dock. The roadway into the campsites was still very cluttered with many branches and winter debris but was passable.
All vantage points I had of the lake I could not see one little spec of ice anywhere! Rock is 100% ice free!!

Well that plan backfired. lol I set my alarm at the resort and everything for 7am Friday to go say hi to youguys but I never even heared it! Woke up on my own at like 9:00am and was like "So much for that" The beds there are soo awesome they just swallow you up. Oh well maybe next time. I will make it to one of the group trips someday I'm sure. lol
