dont know much about making webpages (but am a quick learner), and i would like to make a webpage for a couple logs upcoming (and most likely for long term storage, additions). i plan to upload barrels of heavy pictures and not too much text, but text. i love simple looks. i dont know where to go or if there is a cost or what. i presume there are spaces available for free that come swarmed with ads. id be interested perhaps in these kinds of places (if the ads are minimal), but if there is a place somewhere without ads (pay or no pay), in them i'd be most interested. anyone have any opinions on where i should look? what do you use?

thanks in advance,

Google's Blogspot is also another "free choice"

Google also runs the Picasa photo sharing service -http://picasa.google.com/

Blogger.com lets you run a free blog -https://www.blogger.com/start

Then I think both Facebook and MySpace would probably work.

me too, me too!!!

If I eliminate Facebook, MySpace, Google, and Photobucket...there's nothing left, is there? LOL

Ok, ok...Blogger (Google) and Photobucket seem to be unavoidable. sad.gif

Anyone use Typepad or WordPress?

Wants:

1.) free
2.) photo and video storage
3.) text
4.) easy to update for the computer illiterate
5.) minimum of ads (impossible to avoid, I know)
6.) privacy control

I use wordpress on my blog site..it's okay.
the problem I had was that it is not very compatible with my browser of choice(Safari), so I have to use Firefox when I want to work on the blog site...annoying.

Oops, forgot the other criteria....

I use IE, version 6 I think.(I know, I know).

I could use Mozilla if necessary or switch to IE7.
