Hello, I'm not an experienced camper, so I've been told to start at one of these two sites (Canisbay or Pog Lake) I'm wondering which one is better, and I would like to hear your suggestions as well. How do I know whether I'm picking a good camping lot or not? Does anyone know of any specific lots within either Canisbay or Pog lake? My boyfriend is much bigger than I am, so canoeing to our campsite is not really an option. I have considered a lakefront view, but I've also been told that those are too mosquitoey...

Canisbay is further removed from the highway .. thereby is quieter.

Being on a lakeshore may actually provide you with the advantage of getting a breeze off the lake .. thereby reducing the number of bugs.

Canisbay is a larger lake, the beach faces north .. much cooler in summer!

Both those campgrounds are nice.
And each campground has some very good and some not so good sites.
If you can, get a site with a waterfront. As Barry said, a breeze will help with keeping bugs down.

Stainless

Both Stainless and Barry made great suggestions. The only 1 thing I made add is that Pog if you're going to be doing a lot of canoeing has an almost limitless route esp. when you head towards Rock Lake direction and it sits right on the old railway bike trail. Canisbay is close to the Minnesing Bike Trail.
