Hey Jake
Since digital cameras became common fare, the proliferation of photos has become overwhelming. As a result .. photo content of trip-logs, articles and forum postings has become common place.
For years after starting AA, I was using a 35mm film camera .. scanning my negatives and uploading via dial-up. I took considerable time taking each photo and preparing it for upload. For a number of years now, since acquiring a couple of digital cameras (and a high-speed connection), the time and consideration being taken has undeniably been shortened .. and unfortunately it shows.
While I have a DSLR, I don't take it into the backcountry for weight, size and safety reasons. However, my other more-compact camera has many creative controls that I tend not to use to advantage when in the outdoors .. instead relying on its 'auto' mode.
I appreciate your desire to find a community of serious outdoor photographers, who are trying to develop their skills. Feel free to post technical questions here on the AA forum.
It's just occurred to me that since I've just had to upgrade this forum's service package, there now exists the option to create a second forum dedicated to just nature photography. Any thoughts?
