Hi All,

I am thinking of heading in to Head Lake through AP#8 Cache Lake. Has anybody done this and can offer advice on the trip or camp sites on Head Lake?

We're going for three of four days to relax and will likely walk the backpacking trail as well.

Thanks,
S.

There's mention of Head Lake via Access #8 in a few of the trip logs:

Head lake is nice. I wasn't too sure about passing through Cache due to the numerous cottages but it is a very nice paddle. I have stayed on the site at the far southeast end of the lake near the small waterfall. It was quite nice, not a ton of room but adequate. The portage from Cache to Head has its wet spots, and I was there in August. Plan a little extra time for this one in case conditions aren't ideal, there are some well maintained "boardwalks" but a few wet days and those won't be enough.

Sadly if you wander back from this site a little you will find a shining example of why it is very important to only use pre existing fire pits as there is a large area that once saw a bad underground fire.
