Change in Plans! Trip in 2 days...

Well it turns out my parents were able to swing Thurs/Fri off this week, so we've decided to go up to the park Wed-thru-Sun. Yay for holidays happy.gif This would give us 5 days/4 nights. Staying in one spot on Booth's Lake would end up being extremely boring, I'm sure... so we changed our plans.

Going in at Rock Lake in the afternoon on Wed, and heading to Pen Lake for the first night. Then onwards to Clydegale Lake for 2 nights, come back via Pen for one more night again. Now, on Clydegale Lake, I already have a site we're going to aim for (I've stayed on the island site before, and can't wait to go back). But as for Pen, I've never stayed on that lake, nor even checked out any of the campsites. Does anyone have any suggestions? Since the first night is only a stop over, we're not necessarily looking for seclusion. Some activity would actually be nice. If there are any sites that anyone could recommend that would, say, give us a nice breeze thru the campsite (keep the bugs away) and perhaps provide a nice sunset... I'm all ears! (er, I guess it would be "all EYES" considering this is a message forum, lol)

Thanks in advance!

Hey J,
Stayed on Pen Several times.

Of Coarse the Point half way down on the East side is #1...good luck getting it!

Site near the Portage to Night Lake is #2, same side.

I looked at site right at the end neat P to Clydegale. Last site. Very nice with good swimming. Great for night time star gazing and can see right down Pen. #3 in my mind.

I've been to seveal other sites on the Eest side...all decent with more trees to give ya privacy but not so much breeze to get the buggers away....

Have Fun
Mike

Pen lake

Hey J-Wolf,

There are many nice sites on Pen lake but my fav. is the one on the west side of the lake, just at the mouth of
the Galipo river. It has a beautiful rock outcropping at water level and the site is very spacious, nestled in
a Hemlock grove.
The rock outcrop faces north and affords a fantastic view of the night sky. And the swimming
off the rock is excellent. If you're lucky, moose can be seen grazing in the shallows of the river delta.

Thanks for the suggestions happy.gif

Unfortunately, we had to cancel the trip. sad.gif
5 straight days of rain forecasted was not appealing to the parents.

J-Wolf,

I think you made a good decision as we cut our trip short by two days to get away from it. It rained an awful lot this week.
