Photo Contest Opener

July 4 2009, 10:58 PM

The summer photo contest opener this week is off to a bang. We already have about half the number of entries from our spring contest. Looks like this one is going to be a good one.

The Theme of "Landscapes of Algonquin" has a lot of people digging up some fantastic Algonquin Landscapes.

See the entries thus far at

Feel free to post comments on the photos you enjoy as this will help our judges pick a winner in November.

Here's a few samples of images entered thus far.

Smokey Forest - This was taken while car camping at Kearney Lake campground. I really like when smoke from campfires around the campground lingers in the trees. - Kearney Lake Campground, Algonquin Park - Steve Elms - Waterdown, Ontario

Winter Hike - This picture was taken along one of the hiking trails along Highway 60 in the winter. - Highway 60, Algonquin Park- Steve Elms, Waterdown, Ontario.

"Early morning fog and loon" I had just gotten up bright and early in the morning around 6 AM when I noticed that a lone loon was swimming down the lake and was washing itself. After waiting for just the right time I got a nice shot of it flapping its wings. Lake Jubilee, Access Point #4 - Andrei Bershadski - Waterloo, Ontario

Morning Sky - This is a picture I snapped early in the morning, I had turned down the shutter speed to get that nice dark look to the sky. I think it worked out quite well. The reflection of the trees in the water also add a nice touch to the feelings this photo brings out. - Lake Jubilee, Access Point #4 - Andrei Bershadski - Waterloo, Ontario
