WARNING!
Here is a little warning.DON"T put those battery operated toothbrushes in with anything that might ignite. Here is what we saw. A group was at Rocklake, packing up.One boy grapped his barrel and BOOM! It blew the barrel into pieces and souned like a bomb!.The boy's leg was scrapedand his ears ringing. There on the ground a tooth brush was vibrtating. We figure the small propane tank was leaking inside the barrel and when he picked up the barrel it turned on the toothbrush switch and boom.I guess you can see all the scenarios. What if he was carrying it etc. It was lucky no one was seriosly hurt.I think there was a little laundry to be done after that.

Unless your arm doesn't go up and down, bring an old-fashioned toothbrush. And if your arm doesn't go up and down, how are you going to paddle?
Fortunately the kid lived to trip another day. A good lesson on careful packing, especially with combustibles. Thanks, moodyblu

Yep. My old-fashioned toothbrush is actually quite the high-tech travel model.

I hope the kid brought extra underwear LOL!
I'm glad he wasn't more seriously injured....that could have been way worse.

I have to bring an electric toothbrush to maintain dental health. The alternate isnt pretty..
My real question is why put a propane canister in a barrel in the first place? They dont suffer when wet.

When we came out last week my son's electric toothbrush started up after I put the back down on the ground at the end of the portage. I didn't have any interest in digging into the pack to find it and turn it off so just let the battery die. I don't think I had it in the pack with the white gas but I don't travel with a barrel anyway. That certainly would have spiced things up though!!
