Hello people.........

I am base camping for 5 days on Lousia.

I love my day trips checking out other lakes.

I am looking at doing:
North Grace
Lemon
McGarvey
up to Bonnechere
Kirkwood
Lawerence
Rod & Gun
back to home base Lousia...
A nice full day to bring me to sunset fer sure.

So, Is this best way to do this loop you think?

Any sites that are a must to see on the way?
thanks for any comments crew.
cheers

Mike B

Portage from Lawrence to Rod and Gun

is uphill...significant uphill.

That is if you do in the order you mentioned.

If the day is hot you might be all done in after that one.

I can't offer any input but it certainly is a long loop. However, taking into account it's a day trip and you'll be traveling fairly light it is certainly doable. I'd probably get a very early start anyways just so that you give yourself the cushion to take a comfy pace instead of having to push yourself.

It's not the end of the world if you get back after dark anyways. Looks like a great one day tour though. What are you going to do the other four days, huh?

When will you be on Louisa? We'll be there Friday and Saturday nights.

Hey guys and girls.

Laurie, will not be there until the end of Aug.

The rest of the stay? himmmmmmmmmmmmm, perhaps rest after my day trip!

Perhaps loop the other way? uphills less?

Cheers

If you're doing a loop (i.e., starting and ending at the same point), your net elevation change is 0.

That said, feel free to describe the loop as uphill both ways (in the driving rain and howling wind) for better story-telling.

Mike, I did a few years ago in May the McGarvey to Bonnechere portage, it was ok but has many fallen trees...I guess it wasn't cleared yet. From McGarvey to North Grace was ok.

This spring we did the Bonnechere to Lawrence portages and they were pretty good and not hard to do.

Great plan

I'm sure you will luv North Grace
and as well the return to base camp on Louisa happy.gif

P.S. I'm also sure the snow at this time of year and its resulting
bent over portge blockages to North Grace
will be non-existant but that also means
warm night-time camp fire celebratory drinks happy.gif
