Petawawa Water Levels

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a multi-day whitewater trip to use as preparation for a big two week trip in the summer of 2010. The trip that came to mind first was the Petawawa.

What is the Petawawa like in the last week of May, first week of June? Is it still raging spring flood, or has it calmed down a bit? Also, are there any gauges on the river? I know about one on the bridge in town, but that's way down river.

Anyways, any info would be greatly appreciated. If I think the trip is doable, the first thing I'm going to do is buy the guidebook, but right now I'm just scouting options.

Cheers

Most of the rapids in the Petty are navigable right through until July, although a few years back we were able to run nearly all of the rapids in August as a result of good rainfall. That early in the spring you are looking at C1 rapids as C2s, C2s as C3s and so on, but mostly because of volume.
