Labour Day helicopter rescue

While on Little Eagle Lake for the Labour Day long weekend there was a strange event Saturday night. At approximately 9:30pm we heard, then saw the navigation lights, of a large plane turning south west of our camp site. I would guess around the south end of Daisy Lake. I presumed it was a C-130 heading back to Petawawa; then it kept orbiting. I wondered who would plan a night time exercise over Algonquin on a long weekend as it loitered for about half an hour? Then we heard the sound of a helicopter for about 15 minutes and then nothing. It did not occur to me until a while later that this might indicate a rescue.

On our return through Kearney we heard that a woman was indeed rescued from a portage where she fell and was impaled on a root. I expected to read something in the news later so didn't stick around to ask further but I haven't read anything.

Is anyone else aware of this event?

Wow no kidding, eh! We were on Ralph Bice and saw this large aircraft circling several times as well. I told my friends about CFB Petawawa, but we couldn't figure out why it persisted circling
