I like the trade too (assuming your a Sens fan?), I think it works for both teams. I was never a big fan of Heater, one trick pony if u ask me and poor on the forecheck/helping the D out, but nonetheless sad to see someone leave the Sens family on that top, at times dominating line. The trade certainly improves their forward depth, something the Sens have been severely lacking these last few years.
Another instant improvement the trade brings is their record in the shootouts - very poor these last few years, one of the worst in the league if memory serves. Heater rarely got a chance unless they went into the teens in terms of shooters, but now with Kovalev, Milan Michalek and Cheechoo to draw from that alone should win them 5+ extra games in shootouts. I'd like to see them improve their D with one or two more big boys - hopefully they can swing something later this year. But I'm excited to see how this emphasis on a young puck moving Defense pans out (not to mention P LeClair). Lots of teams in their division rebuilding too, should be an exciting year.

I was a little bit surprised to see Cheechoo has had a 56 goal season...hopefully being closer to home and speckled trout will see him return to form. I can wish right?
The Team 1200 will be airing the game tuesday night at 6pm. It's been a loooong summer, I now know how Leafs fans feel.

Sens Practice
September 17 2009, 8:31 PM
Hi EGB,
Ya, I know you u feel regarding the long summer. If you are interested the Sen's practice at SBP is open to the public this Saturday (Sept 19th) @ 10 a.m (they play Mtrl that nite). I took my kids 3 times end of last year (March/April) to their practices and it was great. Foligno gave pucks to the kids and there were lots of free give-aways and photo opps (thru the plexiglass). Although there is a heavy emphasis on the kids there were a lot of kidless adults there too, lol. Plus u get to see some of the youngsters before they get sent back to the baby sens (e.g. Cowan/Smith/Lehner/etc) and check the new line combinations (KFC).
