access 2, 3 or 4...cell phone signals?

Hello all,
I hate to ask this, but I'm prepping for my second ever solo trip, and (fortunately or unfortunately) since I'm still new to soloing, the deal I have with my significant other is that I need to be "within" cell phone range. Not all the time mind you, just close enough that I can give an "all ok" text message going in and coming out.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if you can get service from Access points #2, #3 or #4??

I've been in this area before, but usually the cell phone stays in the car when I'm with a group...

If anyone has any suggestions for a nice weekend solo excursion, I'd love to hear them. Doing 2 nights this coming weekend...

Thanks in advance! cheers!

Cell phone service is sketchy once you head out onto the lakes... I barely get service at Cannisbay.

Anyway, perhaps you should consider something like a SPOT unit?

I didn't think so... service seems to be ok anywhere off of HWY 60 this year, but oh well. Back to the corridor it is!

And thanks Laurie, a SPOT unit is on my wish list for next season...

thanks for the responses!

Sat Phone

Of course... You could rent a sat phone

My solo plans seem to also be restricted to the better half's concern
of what if something happened or how can I connact you in an emergency

Cost would be just the daily/weekly rental cost and no usage charge unless you
actually have to make a call and then you don't care if it's $10 or $100 a minute happy.gif

Or if you are lucky... you may know somebody that has a sat phone that
could be borrowed and you'd just be on the hook for any usage costs
which are not a concern if you needed to make a call!

FYI
Pricing

$10 per day + $2.25 per minute airtime

Hi Racoon,
Can you tell me where to rent the satellite phone that you mentioned in your post?
Thanks,
Columbo
