Patrick S. has posted a trip-log on his new blog ... Little Trout Lake - Algonquin Park August 2009 ... four days of exploration and relaxation.

"... we kept wondering if the moose would return again for an evening snack. They didn't disappoint, coming through our site this time to reach the lake. However, they didn't stay- just walked the water's edge and went back into the bush on the opposite side. The sound of them splashing gives you an idea how close to us they were. The little guy was so cute, looking back every now and then at us."

ahhh, yes the 1330m portage, plus the part of the other one(Which I counted to be about 280m).
I remember it well, did it in September. double carry, and I carried a canoe over it. Yes it really was a pain in the back. Your observations about the almost constant elevation changes couldn't be more right..was nuts!
Great little write-up thanks!!!

Sounds like a nice relaxing trip. I also remember the 1330meter portage very good. This was the first real portage I ever did. ( Not taking the 135, 295, 435, and 175 meter portages in consideration to get to Little Queer Lake.) What made it okay though was that we ran into a Cow Moose and calf about half way. We rounded a corner in the portage and there they were about 50 ft in frond of us. Scared me pretty good. We backed away and they moved of to the side. Was a good start of a long day down the Tim to Longer lake.

Thought it was about time

Thanks Markus. I have enjoyed reading your many trip-logs as well as other member's reports these past few months. Thought it was about time I contributed myself. We are novices compared to many members out there (we made our first trip last year and have made 6 trips to date), but we have enjoyed our short trips.

I was surprised how long it took me to complete my trip-log. Makes you appreciate other people's reports that much more.

Leo, not surprised you ran into a moose on the trail. That pathway had numerous moose tracks on it when we walked it.

Yes, Patrick, I'd have to agree with Mike B. that there are many who enjoy these triplogs. They always offer a different perspective on writing styles and formats. I especially liked the "I got it!" at the end of the loon video...pretty funny stuff.

More video on youtube

Hey gang,

Thanks for the comments. I thought the program I used would show the video larger than it did. I put a longer video (longer sections of existing clips and other clips not previously shown) on youtube. View it if you like.
