Hi all,

I'm heading to Algonquin this weekend and I was wondering if the backpacking permit will be required for hiking the shorter loop of Highlands Backpacking Trail over one day?

Thx!

Nope, same rule applies as other day trails. You can park in the parking lot from 7am to 11pm I think it is? That day pass is good for anywhere in the park (excluding the obvious areas with posted signs). If you want to park overnight, you need a different permit. I've done quite a large chunk of the High Lands trail without actually back packing myself.
