#03 : Pam 249 vs Pam 349
Radiomirs with a case of 47 millimeters and a California dial. One have a polished steel case when the other is made of brushed titanium.
The california dial is a mix of arabic and numeric, there is a rail all around the dial too.
The Pam 249 has been intruduced at the SIHH 2006 ( I series ), the Pam 349 has been sold, trough the boutiques only, between the years 2009 and 2010 as a L series without any announcement.
The Pam 249 is a Special Edition of 1936 units ( + 12 OOR (*1) ) , the Pam 349 is a one shot / micro edition of 12 units.
Views of the dials :
A nice domed plexi on the Pam 249 for a full vintage / military look.
When the classic flat sapphire give a dressy look to the Pam 349.
The golden ring all around the 322's dial is the special detail on the Radiomir Minerva models.
The hands are blue on the Pam 249, they have one ( pink ) golden color on the 349.
The seconds hand on the 349's dial is the most visible difference between these two models.
There is a rail all around the dial on the California.
Optical illusion because of the sapphire and the golden hands ? The painted indexes seems more beige on the Pam 349, the dial seems more black on the Pam 249.
Views of the cases :
The angles on the 349's titanium case are more sharp.
OP is engraved on the 249's winding crown
The 349's have the logo
With an unbranded dial, the polished steel case of the 249 takes an Opus Facere (*2) engraving between the lugs at 12 and Panerai at 6. The 349 is absolutely naked.
The water resistance is of 30 meters for the 249.
100 meters for the 349.

Some personal comments:
The seconds hands and flat sapphire could be an abberation or alteration for the purists but at less it is possible to admit that this California dial can accept all the customisations and reinterpretations.
Once the insolence of the 349 is accepted, and disregarding its rarity we must admit that here is a very beautiful piece totaly out of sybc with the 1st version of this dial !
The 249 is an easy watch pretty accurate to the vintage 3646.
On the wrist the 349 seems a bit larger and thicker than the 249.
Seconds hand vs No seconds hand ??
Thanks for watching
*1 : OOR :
ange, in the first case these watches are at the start one shadow which served in shows and displays ... the factory reuses these watches by adding them a caseback with a special engraving : the letter of the millesimation is replaced by OOR
. There is no OOR who is a specific watch : they were all made from already existing models, neverthless some have some differences regard to the benchmark model; ex : Pam 02 and 61 OOR has the movement which was then put in the Pam 112 and the 118 in the E serie ( The new OP XI instead the OP II ), the pam 194 OOR has an improved bezel ...
In the second option we can considere that the factory uses some available parts and make a few more models.
*2 : OPUS FACERE:
From the latin opus
stands for work, labor, to work
is the present active infinitive of facio
which transleted wants to say to make
