Had an early start this morning. Into school for 8:30 to load the minibus up with a selection of our adapted bicycles and our wheelchair for inclusive/zone basketball. Then off into the town centre to set up ready for the Olympic Torch.
Every other Saturday myself and 4 other staff go down to school between 9 and 12 and give people, pupils from school and the general public, the opportunity to use the adapted bicycles and we though as its a special day we would take them into town and let the general public see that this activity is available and how much fun it can be. I decided to take the wheelchairs for inclusive basketball down too as I am going to help start a team for east Lancashire in the next few months so thought it would be nice to introduce people to them too. They went down a storm! everyone loved them and the beauty is able bodied people and disabled people can compete together on the same level playing field.
We didn't have a bad position, right outside Burnley Library.....
Managed to get a quick wrist shot before the crowds arrived!
The coca cola bus was giving out some nice commemorative Olympic aluminium bottles which I took a picture of and a slightly better wrist shot of the 26 whilst I moved the minibus.
It wasn't long before we had quite a crowd...
After about an hour and a half we got the message that the torch was 10 minutes away so we all moved over to the official route to watch the torch pass.
And there is was!

Was amazed at how emotional it was.
Had a chance meeting with a certain Aitor Throup too, he was there with his daughter and Mum and Dad so had a bit of a chat with him and arranged to go for a bevvy with him this week and discuss a possible sale of my CP Company transformables to him (paranoid) he's been pestering me for years to buy them off me.
All in all a very good morning, everyone enjoyed themselves fingers crossed we have found some decent talent for our Inclusive Basketball team :ok:
