Both are 47 millimeters with a titanium case and a Special Edition Regatta ( *1 ) of 500 units.
The Panerai Regatta 2010 uses for the first time the Radiomir case and the titanium, it is the first to don't be a straight custom of an existing model. It is too the first Regatta with a diameter of 47 millimeters.
The Regatta 2011 is mostly one Pam 305 on which were added one blue dial and a GMT function.
With the Pam 343, for the first time one Regatta have one real nautical function because of the automatic movement OP XXI which allows the calculation of a boat speed ( knots ) based on nautical miles.

Movement : automatic mechanical, exclusive Panerai OP XXI calibre, 13¼ lignes, 42 jewels, monometallic Glucydur® balance, 28,000 alternations/hour. Incabloc® anti-shock device. Power reserve 42 hours. Circular graining and Côtes de Genève decorations on the bridges.

Functions : hours, minutes, split-seconds chronograph with two counters, one with hand rotating once per second in 1/8 second increments, calculation of boat speed (knots) based on nautical miles.




Pam 371
Movement : automatic mechanical, Panerai P.9001 calibre, executed entirely by Panerai, 13¾ lignes, 7.9 mm thick, 29 jewels, Glucydur® balance, 28,800 alternations/hour. Incabloc® anti-shock device. Power reserve 3 days, two barrels. 229 components.

Functions: hours, minutes, small seconds, date, second time zone, power reserve indicator on the back, seconds reset, calculation of immersion time.




Some personal comments:

The both watches were issued with a different style, dressy for the Pam 343 and more sporty for the Pam 371 but they are very versatile, put one dive strap on the Radiomir and it become instantly a sport watch, even a submersible. When on the Pam 371 there is one nice leather strap it is transformed in a very elegant model.
The surprising thing is their respective thickness which is very comparable

Panerai has always had a relationship with the world of the sea, to strengthen this relationship in 2000 the brand becomes the official sponsor of the Laureus Regatta, a race organized by the Yacht Club de Monaco. With this partnership the first limited edition "regatta" was born, it is the Pam 081
In 2001, the writing Montecarlo is replaced by Laureus.
The Laureus / Regatta special editions have been produced until 2004.
In 2005 Panerai organize their own race, the Classic Yacht Challenge and this inscription replaces Laureus award on this series of watches.
The regatta is one limited edition produced every year since 2000, we can say it follows as a series. Yet, almost none of these watches is a separate model but rather a customization of a current existing watch that could be called donor. To date, they were never produced in more than 500 units per year.
