Response to If Panerai reps follow this discussion...

1. If Panerai reps follow this discussion they might also do a tally and discover that as of your post:
16 people like the 389
9 people appear to be on the fence
5 people voiced clear dislike

Not exactly a landslide of hate so far happy.gif

2. The awesome vintage goodness we've seen recently is a nod to history and to the enthusiasts like us... not a sign of where Panerai is headed. The 389 doesn't mark a sharp turning point but rather another stone on the path to the future. The turning point was several years ago when Panerai released their first in-house movements in watches like the 233 and followed those up with things like the 292 and 339. For anyone who's been following Panerai's path in the last decade there's no denying that this kind of watch is where they are headed: Modern materials, modern look, modern features blended with a distinct Panerai "look". That they continue to also release awesome historic watches is just icing on the cake for people who care about that stuff. But Panerai has to hang their financial hat on the future, not the past, because at some point the inspirations of the past will be all used up and if they're not already established with new ideas and styles they'll find themselves in a world of trouble.

Even Rolex moves forward happy.gif

If plexi is wrong, I don't want to be right.
